Strategy
The birth of Mvelaphanda Group was a logical response
to the opportunities being presented by, a transforming
South African business landscape.
Utilising the Group’s BEE credentials and the solid platform
that has been established through the combination of quality
investments with cash generative operations (under the Mvelaserve
banner), Mvelaphanda Group will continue to participate in
the transformation of the South African economy by actively
pursuing and implementing value-enhancing and/or BEE transactions.
Mvelaphanda Group holds investments in a range of companies
operating in the financial services sector, consumer services
sector, non-mining, construction and infrastructure sector,
telecommunications, media and technology sector.
The strategy of Mvelaphanda Group
is to grow shareholder value, as measured primarily by
intrinsic net asset value.
Investments
The Group’s investment strategy is to leverage off the strong
BEE credentials and entrepreneurial spirit to acquire meaningful
stakes (measured in terms of value to the Group) in prominent
South African corporates across a range of market sectors,
having good growth prospects in the medium term as a result
of their strong market position, excellent management and
sound industry fundamentals.
Investment activities are focused on the management of investments
and the provision of support, leadership and strategic guidance
where appropriate to these companies, rather than being involved
in the day-to-day operations of these companies. Mvelaphanda
Group is an active value- adding shareholder in all its investments
and is always active participant on the boards of its investee
companies.
